Suzanne Rich Folsom serves as general counsel, chief compliance officer and senior vice president – government affairs at U. S. Steel. She oversees the legal, regulatory, compliance, corporate governance, environmental affairs, security, aircraft, and labor and employment matters. Ms. Folsom is a key member of the executive management team who also spearheads the company’s worldwide public policy and government affairs initiatives. She is responsible for ensuring the profitability of the USS Real Estate division and oversight for the company’s joint ventures worldwide.
Prior to joining U. S. Steel, Ms. Folsom was executive vice president, general counsel and chief compliance officer of ACADEMI LLC, a leading global security provider to the federal government and commercial clients. Previously, Ms. Folsom was deputy general counsel and chief regulatory and compliance officer for the American International Group (AIG), where she established and implemented best-in-class regulatory and compliance processes during the height of the economic crisis. Ms. Folsom was also counselor to the president of the World Bank Group and director of its Department of Institutional Integrity, leading that organization’s global anti-corruption program. In addition, she was special counsel at O’Melveny & Myers LLP; an associate of Cadwalader Wickersham & Taff LLP; chief of staff to Her Majesty Queen Noor of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; special assistant to First Lady Barbara Bush; and chief of staff to co-chairman of the Republican National Committee Maureen Reagan.
Ms. Folsom is a graduate of Duke University and Georgetown University Law Center.
